With love,Sharon & MeganSound Connection Choir

At Sound Connection, we believe singing creates social connectedness and a sense of belonging, and we recognize the importance of creating a safe place to find, explore and share your voice in community.

Group singing has been shown to build social connections and generate a collective identity. Simply put, individuals who sing/breathe/move together, feel together. In fact, some theorists claim that one evolutionary purpose of group singing is social bonding.

Sound Connection is a proud Ubuntu choirs network member and believes that singing is our birthright even the shyest of voices can re-discover the joy of singing.

We are a friendly and encouraging group that sings contemporary and world music from all genres and traditions, vocalists receive instruction on song parts in the oral tradition of call and response.
Sharon and Megan also offer some basic guidance with vocal technique, and how to use your voice safely and correctly. content that will help your readers understand your message.

ABOUT THE CHOIR LEADERS

Megan Keene

Megan is a singer, choir leader and vocal instructor with a passion for building community through song.
With over 7 years co-directing the Sound Connection choir and 3 years of facilitating community arts and healthcare programs. Megan has been a part of four bands, and ran a very successful music venue, Ground Zero Acoustic Lounge in Parksville B.C totaling over 20 years of experience in the musical community.

Megan loves nothing more than to sing and inspire others to sing.
She believes music is the key to health and happiness. Studies have proven that nothing makes the entire brain light up quite like music does. It builds micro communities, aids in mental health, and physical ailments, such as strengthening the aging voice, improving speech, breath, posture and self esteem.

In 2015 Megan completed the intensive Community Choir Leadership Training Program in Victoria B.C. with Siobhan Robinsong and Denis Donnelly, and completed the SongShineTM Certification training in May 2016
