ABOUT SOUND CONNECTION
Sound Connection is an uplifting, non-auditioned choir for anyone (18+) who loves singing, or who has wanted to sing but has been too afraid. Every voice is welcome!! We are a friendly and encouraging group that sings contemporary and world music from all genres and traditions, vocalists receive instruction on song parts in the oral tradition of call and response. Sharon and Megan also offer some basic guidance with vocal technique, and how to use your voice safely and correctly.
ABOUT THE CHOIR LEADERS
Megan Keene
Megan is a singer, choir leader and vocal instructor with a passion for building community through song. With over 7 years co-directing the Sound Connection choir and 3 years of facilitating community arts and healthcare programs. Megan has been a part of four bands, and ran a very successful music venue, Ground Zero Acoustic Lounge in Parksville B.C totaling over 20 years of experience in the musical community. Megan loves nothing more than to sing and inspire others to sing. She believes music is the key to health and happiness. Studies have proven that nothing makes the entire brain light up quite like music does. It builds micro communities, aids in mental health, and physical ailments, such as strengthening the aging voice, improving speech, breath, posture and self esteem. In 2015 Megan completed the intensive Community Choir Leadership Training Program in Victoria B.C. with Siobhan Robinsong and Denis Donnelly, and completed the SongShineTM Certification training in May 2016
Sharon Tomczyk

Authentic Health for the 21st Century Woman.” Sharon has been developing and facilitating singing, health, arts, and/or personal growth programs for over 25 years, for adults, children and teens. She is passionate about the power of music and singing to empower, liberate, and heal and has made it her life’s work. Sharon loves learning as much as she loves teaching, and is constantly engaged in opportunities to expand her depth of knowledge. Along with her work, she is currently attending university full-time, studying music, psychology, anthropology, sociology, counselling, and recreation management, as she explores new and deeper ways of using music and singing to enrich lives and build community.
