Errington Hall Children’s Music Program

Mondays / Thursdays - April 3rd to June 15th

The Errington Hall’s new children’s music program is taught by an experienced certified music specialist, Allison Shaw. Allison is offering three programs at the Preschool, Primary, and Intermediate levels. She will also be leading a Children’s Choir.

Preschool Music Classes

Preschool classes will include songs and action games including movement and singing. There will be a focus on feeling and keeping a beat and beginning concepts of rhythm and melody. The children will also play rhythm instruments and learn how to care for them. They will experience guided free play on ukuleles.
Ages: 3 to 5 ($100 per child)
Time: 10:00-10:45
Dates: 10 Week Session – Thursdays from 10:00 to 10:45;
April 6, 13, 20, 27, May 4, 11, 25, June 1, 8, 15.

The Choir

The choir will be open to all children ages 5 and above. No experience required, just a love of singing. The scheduled rehearsals will prepare choristers for a music recital at the hall on March 12
Ages: 5-12 ($90 per child)
Time: 3:30-4:15
Dates: 9 sessions – Mondays; April 3, (no class Easter Monday) 17, 24. May 1, 8, 15, (no class Pro D day) 29, June 5, 12. Plus a Spring Performance date to be announced.

Meet the Teachers

Allison’s Bio

Allison Shaw is a British Columbia teacher (UBC, 1986). In 2017 she retired from School District 69 (Qualicum) and continued her teaching career as an independent Music Teacher at Studio 29 Academy of Music. She has been teaching music to classes at Arrowsmith Independent School and Arrowsmith Independent Preschool since 2017.

Bonnie’s Bio

local performer and song writer studied at Vancouver Island University, majoring in voice in the Bachelor of Arts music program. Studies included jazz & classical voice, piano, theory, musicianship, the vocal jazz choir & the Mallasapina college choir. Bonnie is an experienced music teacher who taught private music lessons at the Parksville Music Centre from 2009-2018.

Since September 2018 she is now been providing private music lessons at Studio 29 Academy of Music located at the Arrowsmith independent School also at the Bonaventure Program at the Parksville Elementary School.
