This year’s Halloween Dance is sure to be a hoot, or maybe a howl depending on whether there are any werewolf costumes. Trying to identify people behind their masks and outrageous outfits is always a big part of the enjoyment at this event.
The Palace Band’s high energy performance will be the main draw. The group was formed in 2007 to be the house band for the Errington Hall’s annual Night at the Palace vaudeville/ burlesque revue. As well as playing jazz standards of the past, the band creates arrangements of contemporary music with an old time feel. They aim to bring communities together through music and dance.
The Palace Band’s past festivals and mini tours include the Nanaimo Old City Quarter Jazz Festival, Denman Island’s Halloween Dance, Lasqueti Island’s Fall Fair and Parksville’s Canada Day celebration. Select venues are The Vault, Ground Zero, and the Osborne Bay Pub. After two years, the band is itching to get back to sharing their music.
The ensemble features these six Oceanside and Nanaimo-based musicians: Ashlee Sales, vocals; Tom Bradbrooke, piano; Galen Mongeau, guitar, Luke Sales, trumpet; Kevin Robinson, bass; James McRae, drums.
All ages are invited to join the party as the Halloween entity of your choice!
